Resource center and support for children and youth in need

 

Financing: Pestalozzi Foundation – Switzerland

Beneficiaries: approx. 150 beneficiaries from placement centers (in Bucharest and surrounding areas) and from families in difficulty

Duration of service: permanent, year-round calendar (schedule Monday-Friday, 9:30 -17:30)

Place: "House Buburuza", Bucharest, Str. Tepes Voda nr.20, sector 2

Purpose: we provide children and youth in need of reference space, human resources, financial and material for their personal development.

 

Activities are built around three main components:

Component instructive – educational: Keyword: "learning" includes:

  • Library (450 books, textbooks, fiction, technical books in various fields)
  • Videoteca (previews and reviews of movies, weekly, Thursday, at 1530 to 1800)
  • Courses (including courses and PC language courses at our office)
  • Workshops (DIY, games, dolls made, etc..). are made on request
  • Advice (on different issues). be made upon request
  • Vocational guidance (consultation papers, contacting employers, a resume writing advice, employment law, presentation at interview)
  • Round tables, debates, seminars (topics of social legislation) is done on request
  • Thematic trips (visiting the most picturesque places in the country and knowledge of people and customs)
  • Culinary action (beneficiaries prepare and serve a lunch menu)
  • Visionary theater, opera, symphony concerts, festivals

 

Community components (the fundamental idea "help"), includes:

  • Social activity (ies initiate and develop social activities for other persons in difficulty)
  • Environmental activities (cleaning of green areas and raise awareness on environmental issues)

 

Recreational component (supports the idea of "relaxing"), includes:

  • Sports (football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, tennis, swimming, running and competition – "Buburuza CUP")
  • Birthday parties (young people can celebrate a birthday together with their friends in a festive)
  • Walk in the park, city, hiking
  • Watching movies in cinemas in the city
  • Games and contests (initiated and organized by youth initiative group, older beneficiaries of the center)
